Listen and learn
We engage communities and partners to understand priorities, strengths and barriers.
Our work
Youth With A Focus Teso works across education, protection, livelihoods, climate resilience and inclusion because communities thrive when challenges are addressed together.
Why connected action
A girl’s education is shaped by her safety, health, household income, environment and ability to participate in decisions.
That is why YWAFT does not treat community challenges as isolated problems. We work with girls, women, young people, families, schools and local leaders to create practical pathways that reinforce one another.
Our programmes combine knowledge, protection, skills, productive resources and locally led action so that change can be sustained within households and communities.
Our programmes
Each programme responds to a distinct priority while contributing to YWAFT’s wider commitment to dignity, opportunity and resilient communities.
Dignity, menstrual-health knowledge and safer pathways for girls to remain active, confident learners.
02Preventing violence, child marriage, exploitation and discrimination through informed community action.
03Skills, enterprise, savings and productive opportunities that strengthen livelihoods and agency.
04Resilient farming, demonstration plots, food security and beekeeping rooted in local knowledge.
05Environmental restoration, safe water, WASH and locally led adaptation to climate pressures.
06Promoting equity, participation and opportunity for people and communities at risk of exclusion.
Our integrated approach
YWAFT begins with community priorities, works alongside local people and links immediate action to longer-term capacity. This creates programmes that are practical, respectful and responsive to how people’s lives are actually connected.
“Lasting change grows when communities help shape it, lead it and sustain it.”
How we work
We engage communities and partners to understand priorities, strengths and barriers.
Activities are shaped around local realities, participation and shared responsibility.
Learning is connected to useful skills, services, resources and community mobilisation.
We support local knowledge and leadership so positive change can continue and grow.
